KAY D. WILLIAMS-SMITH Revenue Commissioner
Kay D. Williams-Smith has served as Revenue Commissioner
since 1985. Her number one goal since first elected has been the prompt, courteous
and helpful service to the taxpayers of Cullman County.
Through her commitment and dedication many extra services have been
implemented which accomplish this goal. In
her administration she has: v Separated the property tax section from motor vehicle to provide faster service. v Mails courtesy reminder notices each year for amount due on real property, business personal property, and tags. v Completely computerized the assessment, collection, appraisal & tags for a more efficient office. v Implemented one-stop tag renewals in office. v Implemented tag renewal by mail. v Implemented local law to help the taxpayer by charging only one $2.00 mail fee on multiple tag renewals in decal years only. Senior citizens can renew by mail and the mail fee is waived. v Made available the ability to pay for tags and property tax by credit cards. v Implemented year-round assessment of property. v Offered “over 65 & totally disabled” exemptions renewable by mail. v Implemented digitized mapping and imaging of all appraisal records, including deeds and work files. v Implemented on-line access via computers to State Department of Revenue and Tag Registrations and Titles, to help the taxpayer with problem solving therefore reducing trips to the courthouse. v
Installed a payment drop box in the main hall of the Courthouse
and a drive-by payment box for tag renewals or property tax
on the corner of
6th Street and 1st Avenue Southwest. v
Streamlined the office to make it more efficient for the
taxpayer. v The latest service offered to the public is the option to pay property taxes or renew tags via the internet. v
Implemented E Maps Plus. This service
allows the public to view assessment records, maps, deeds and work files via the
internet. v Opened Satellite Offices at Baileyton and Dodge City. These offices allow taxpayers to take conduct the business they might have with the Revenue Commissioner's Office without a trip into town. The Revenue Commissioner’s Office will continue to up-date the office with new and better ways to make it easy for the taxpayer to conduct his business. |
